Minnesota-made dressing company turns 15

Join us in celebrating Salad Girl Organic Salad Dressing’s 15th birthday here at your Co-op! This Minnesota-made collection of fresh vinaigrettes made history when it became the first certified organic fresh dressing in the state of Minnesota. The company was created by Pam Powell and named after summers she spent as a teen working in a northern Minnesota resort kitchen – where she loved being the “salad girl.”

Oneota Co-op shoppers love these non GMO, dairy and gluten-free, nutrient-dense blends of seasonal, organic goodness. We asked Pam Powell about her choice to supply food cooperatives during National Co-op month.

“When Salad Girl first brought our products into the co-ops,” Powell answered, “ we immediately felt the stars were aligned! These beautiful neighborhood markets,” she added, “are filled with like-minded folks who share our same value system when it comes to growing and eating foods without pesticides and preservatives, as well as the hopes and dreams for the well-being of our Midwest communities.”

Be sure to use our Salad Girl birthday coupons; you’ll find them in Produce, next to our Salad Girl selection. Visit saladgirl.com; their blog has lots of news (like winners of this year’s Minnesota State Fair Salad Making Contest, sponsored by Salad Girl) and recipes for salads, slaws and more.

Hear from founder Pam in this Continued Connection video from our friends at Seward Community Co-op here.

There’s a recent Q&A from Voyage Minnesota here as well.

We congratulate Salad Girl for their commitment to healthy, delicious foods and the communities they’re grown in. Here’s to your next 15!
