Oneota Co-op has exciting news to share. We will receive a new point of sale system (POS) the week of July 5, 2026. This transition has been “in the works” for the past 18 months, and we look forward to the capabilities and efficiencies this will offer our organization. See below for details:

How will my checkout experience be handled during this transition?

We do not anticipate any disruption of services during this shift. We will be able to process our regular payment forms (including SNAP), declining balances, discounts, coupons, Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB), punch cards, special orders, online shopping, refunds/exchanges, and member sign-ups.

Will all cash registers transition at once?

No. National Co+op Grocers & ECRS staff will be onsite to assist our staff with installation and training on each register. Our front end staff may direct you to specific cash registers to complete your checkout experience.

What system will we be incorporating and how was this decision made?

Mid-way through 2025, we were notified of an opportunity NCG was providing to its member food co-ops, of which we are one. After careful consideration of the many facets involved, Oneota leadership made the decision to embrace this opportunity for the next chapter of our existence. Among various enhancements such as touch-screen functionality, custom analytics, and marketing integration, the new platform will allow us to enhance our systems with standardizations that will better consolidate data with our peers at other NCG food co-ops.

We have chosen a POS system termed ECRS/Catapult (ECRS for short). ECRS is a US-based, Certified Evergreen transaction and retail solutions provider which has been in business for 35 years.

Though we have embraced this opportunity, the shift is bittersweet as we have been fortunate to grow in partnership with CoPOS (our current point of sale system) during the last 30+ years. We wish to express our sincere appreciation to Ken, Jeremy, and all the folks at CoPOS for the opportunities that have arisen over the years.

What are some of the ways in which ECRS may be used at the Co-op?

Aside from your checkout experience, a POS system is responsible for much of an organization’s digital management system. ECRS offers us efficiencies for inventory management, reporting and analytics, invoicing, ordering, signage and branding, product catalogs/identification, member and employee information, loyalty programs and e-commerce. Some of the aforementioned things will be implemented immediately; others require ongoing planning over the next months prior to launch. We will now have the capacity to more easily share our information with NCG, thereby doing all we are able to contribute to NCG decision-making.

I have a few questions. How might I ask them?

We welcome inquiries regarding this transition. Please email them to customerservice@oneotacoop.com. Co-op management will be happy to discuss this further with you.
