The Oneota Community Food Co-op hosted a “Round-Up at the Register” campaign February 3rd through February 17th. During this time, customers at the Co-op were given the opportunity to round-up their sale to the nearest whole dollar with these funds going to support Winneshiek County Habitat for Humanity. The campaign held in February raised $2,000 for Habitat by rounding up the sales of over 4,300 transactions.

Winneshiek County Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1992 and joins over 1,500 Habitat for Humanity (HFH) affiliates in the US. They have built 31 homes in the communities of Burr Oak, Hesper, Calmar, Castalia, Decorah, Freeport, Ossian, Spillville, and Ridgeway. Houses are not free for partner families, rather they are provided with a 25-year interest-free mortgage through the HFH organization. Each adult family member is also required to give 150 volunteer hours towards the project.
